Frequently Asked Questions
-
I work with you as the parent of a child with sensory processing or self-regulation challenges. I don’t provide direct support to your child or evaluate their needs.
-
Yes! A child’s unmet sensory needs can directly influence their nervous system regulation and their ability to participate in meaningful activities. Sensory processing can greatly improve/be supported by direct OT services.
I see sensory processing as a piece of a larger nervous system puzzle. And I believe that a child’s sensory processing skills are best looked at within the context of the adult(s) they are co-regulating with.
-
Regulation is the nervous system’s ability to take in, filter out, and appropriately respond to internal and external sensations. It leads to an “optimal state of arousal” - a state of calmness or alertness - so you can focus on tasks, manage emotions, and navigate your surroundings.
-
Sessions are tailored to you and your family’s individual needs. A session may include:
Education about the nervous system, sensory processing, and co-regulation
Exploring patterns that may be influencing your nervous system capacity
Grounding practices (guided meditation, Reiki)
Reflecting on parenting challenges through a relational and sensory lens
Practical strategies to support co-regulation
A nonjudgmental space to process your experiences as a parent
I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all plan. Sessions are collaborative and I will meet you wherever you are.
-
No, I do not provide assessment for your child. Please find an Occupational Therapist in your area to evaluate your child’s sensory processing needs! I am happy to interpret results with you.
